Save Batteries
We offer three different types of save batteries for your games. It can be a bit confusing which one to choose.
CR1616, CR2025, & CR2032
All Game Boy games that use battery back-ups use either CR2025 or CR1616 coin cell batteries. To determine which one your game uses open them up and measure the diameter of the battery. A CR2025 coin cell battery is 20mm wide while a CR1616 coin cell battery is 16mm wide.
All Nintendo NES, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis and Sega 32X games that use battery back-ups use CR2032 batteries and have outward prongs.
CR1616
These are the batteries for both Game Boy Original/Color and Game Boy Advance games. They are used in Pokémon Emerald, Sapphire, Ruby, Puzzle Challenge, Yellow, and Trading Card Edition plus many other Game Boy games.
You will need a soldering iron to install these. In order to open your game cartridges, you will need a security bit. Game Boy Advance games use a tri-wing security bit. GameBoy Original and GameBoy Color games use a 3.8mm nutsetter security bit.
