DMG Tactile 'Clicky' Switch Mod Installation Guide

Products Used:
DMG Tactile Switch Buttons Mod
Tri-Wing and Phillips Screwdrivers
Note: We recommend only doing this mod if you have experience with soldering.
STEP 1: Remove back of DMG shell with a Y2 Tri-Wing Screwdriver.

STEP 2: Pull down the cable connecting the front motherboard to the back motherboard.

STEP 3: Remove screws from the front motherboard and remove the front motherboard from the old shell. The LCD may be held by an adhesive, but it can be easily removed.

Step 4: On the front motherboard, you will see 8 points on the D-Pad side and 4 Points on the A & B Button side. To properly solder those points, you will need to expose the copper pad underneath. With the edge of a craft knife or box cutter, carefully lightly scratch the top black layer and expose the copper pad underneath.

Note: Clean the area with a Q-tip and rubbing alcohol until you can see most of the copper pad. You may need to expose it even more than the picture below if you see that the solder is not adhering.

Step 5: Pre-solder the points. You can use flux to help the solder adhere to any of the points on the board and the tactile switches, but make sure you clean up with a Q-tip and alcohol to remove residue. The solder points are circled in the picture. An example of pre-soldered points is in the picture below.

Step 6: Line up the tactile switch with the points. We recommend using some Kapton tape to temporarily line it up. Make sure to remove the tape before soldering near it. Solder the points together with another bead of solder above.
Note: If you are having issues with one button not working. Most likely, the point is not fully soldered to the board.

Step 7: Make sure to clean off any flux residue with a Q-tip and rubbing alcohol. And you can place the button and specialty button pads on the shell.

Step 8: Screw in the front motherboard to the shell where it is circled in the picture. Do not over-tighten since it can cause button issues.

Step 9: Connect the connecting cable from the front motherboard to the port in the back motherboard and push it up fully. This connects the front and back motherboards fully. Make sure that the cable is fully inserted. NOTE: IF you are having issues with the feel of the buttons, it may be that the screws are too tight. Loosen the screws or remove one of them to allow room.

STEP 10: Test the system. Always test your system before you close it. Any issues that arise can be fixed now.
STEP 11: To close the system, screw in the 6 Tri-wing screws. If you have any questions, please email us at: sales@godofgamingshop.com
